Re: Spriso's SR20DET Bluebird Coupe Project
And down the rabbit hole we go... I was all set to just paint the engine compartment, put the car back together and drive it, warts and all. But that nagging little devil on my shoulder kept saying that I would never tear the car back apart to fix it right if I did that-- and then Eric Straw said t...

Re: Sr20det catch can setup
The S13.5 valve cover mod gets rid of the ugly catch can on S13 SR20DET engines by using the back half of a S14 SR20DET valve cover with the front half of a S13 SR20DET valve cover welded to the front-- a great article on this can be found here: http://tougefactory.com/shop/2014/12/service-s13-4-sr-...

This is a common misconception when building custom engine mounts for CA and SR series engines. CA18DET engines are like SR20-series engines-- they are supposed to sit at an angle. See this i...

Re: In tank fuel pump conversion
I have put in several of these systems with no issues-- they work great. The only possible thing that I would be concerned about is the eventual breakdown of the foam baffle-- and the Tanksinc. version has a steel catch can and steel construction instead of the billet aluminum that the Phantom has. ...

Re: In tank fuel pump conversion
From one of my previous build threads: Fuel System Since the SR20DE is a fuel injected engine, we would need an EFI rated fuel pump and lines to support the system. I really like in-tank fuel pumps, and many times we will do a 300ZX in-tank fuel pump conversion into the stock 510 fuel tank. But this...

Re: Joyce’s ‘71 521 Farm Truck
There are some threads on Ratsun.net on putting a 521 on a 720 frame... not quite plug and play (as you would expect).
My 68 521 will get Miata front and rear suspension (but that project is a few more down the road).

Re: Spriso's SR20DET Bluebird Coupe Project
Body Dolly I'm going to have the engine compartment painted, but wanted a way to roll the car easily onto (and off of) the trailer, as well as make it easy to maneuver around the shop-- so I made a simple dolly using some Harbor Freight casters and some scrap steel. It mounts to the front crossmemb...

Re: Noobie's 510 project
I'm not an engineer, but I think that you are going to want to make sure that your drive shaft flanges for your CV conversions are phased the same orientation -- it could cause you some vibration issues. Might be nothing to it, but I know that it can be an issue on U-joints. I realize that CV's will...

Inching Forward Work continues on the Bluebird in between work commitments and customer projects. Over the summer, we had a great BBQ at Spriso HQ and I bolted on some sheet metal to remind me what this thing actually looks like and drug it out of the shop for some Oregon sunshine: https://c1.stati...

Re: SR20DET Oil Pump Priming
Oil pump priming on a SR20DE/T is very important and we developed this method years ago when we start an engine that has been sitting a long time or that has had the oil pump replaced that has worked well for us. What we do is use a simple in-line pump that is driven with a cordless drill-- we then ...
