Thanks Hainz,
I will consider this.
For now I tried running them as fog lights with a separate switch and relay. I think I wored it correctly, but they are not working.
Do you have a diagram, a simple one I can follow to get them to work?
Thanks

Re: Unstable Idling (help needed)
Im not a fan of SUs. Esp from a bucket of misc parts lying around.(meaning worn out junk) Only way I would buy a set is if I heard them run and I drove the car then pulled them off myself. heres another option but still looking how others have experience with these. I assume the 42 would be the siz...

Re: Unstable Idling (help needed)
Enrique Sorry I didn't get home until late last night. Check under the cap for moisture if it starts sputtering again. I ran into this problem when I was running a EI dizzy. I have the correct factory coil for your dizzy that I'll bring to the Mitty for you. Another problem I ran into was cross-fir...

Re: Unstable Idling (help needed)
Remember that earlier statement. Get a weber!!!!!! I figure it would be the carb. As it got better when you drove faster. so your running more on the 2nd barrel. I had this happen to a girls datsun 521. I swaped points .coil ect then I said helll with it and swapped the carb. Thats fixed it. But it...

Re: Unstable Idling (help needed)
Hi James, No auto choke, manual. Update for everyone: My mechanic and I took apart the carburator (stock Hitachi) He suspected that IT was the problem. We had a kit ready to rebuild, but it looked good no major problems. He noticed that there was a bit of restriction in the housing where th efuel co...

Re: Unstable Idling (help needed)
the sputtering and bogging down on take off and shifting gears is still there. small tweaks to the timing now... Okay, I'll check again and adjust accordingly, thanks. you have already checked for any wobble in the dizzy shafty??? Yes, no wobble. It has very minimal play, but I think that's normal,...

Re: Unstable Idling (help needed)
No vacuum leak... but I will have it checked again to be 100% sure. Yes, it gets better after it warms up, but it does not go away completely. Again, it only happens sometimes. Sometimes it runs beautifully. It's odd. Hi, I changed the PCV valve. The old one seemed really sticky, hardly any movemen...

Re: Unstable Idling (help needed)
Thanks James, I will check that green wire in the dizzy. I will also chnage my wires as I just got a brand new set. A bit of history. This was happening before I changed the dizzy, when I had my dual point dist. I thought it was the old dist. Even though the wires look old. I checked their resistanc...

Re: Unstable Idling (help needed)
It sputters mainly when I take off and when shifting gears, but yes it goes away as the RPM's go up.

Re: Unstable Idling (help needed)
Hi Guys, I am baffled. I Have done pretty much everything that could be done, I think. I had the car's timing set to 12, idle and mix set properly yesterday by a mechanic. Th car ran great on my way to work, but when I left work, the sputtering problem came back. The idling is unsteady (wobbly) and ...
