Re: 72 2 Door 510 Restoration-25 years in the making

I agree with Byron - I've had good luck with Fel-pro head gaskets. In all reality - taking the head off becomes common on these engines. The head gasket seems to be one of the few weaker points, might as well get it squared away now.

Re: 72 2 Door 510 Restoration-25 years in the making

One thing - did you torque from the middle out on the head bolts?
I found one time that I had some remaining gasket I hadn't cleaned around the aligning dowel that hung me up for a bit. Nothing like taking the head on and off multiple times to get good at it....Good luck.

Re: Libre rims

I would recommend that you get some pics of the actual rims up on the site, and also put your location in your profile - then everyone knows where you are! Good luck with the sale!

Re: My Brakes Suck!

Not sure the diff would be worth the effort to notice. That is why I just put a 1" piece in brake pedal. Easy peasy and leverage increase was substantial, with really good feel. In terms of ratio - moving the mounting point up on the brake pedal arm is effectively doing the same thing in terms...

Re: My Brakes Suck!

I have been thinking about this (I recently put on a 7/8" master from a z). I was wondering if you were to raise the attachment point of the clevis to the brake pedal. This would effectively increase pedal travel for the same master stroke - which would soften pedal feel and effort. I did a qui...

Re: Rear bumper side brackets

I second that. No need to put a crease in a quarter panel when just the bumper could take the hit....The bumper will sit fine without it.

I think (please correct me if I'm wrong) is the solid blue is for radio - and then is headed to the heater. The There is also a harness plug for a tach up there somewhere. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByCvxnHNk90SSmpJOXMxekR2cnc/edit?pli=1&resourcekey=0-YEViG0NXboi0Oti_-7yanQ This is useful.....

Re: Stock Brake Rotors

So - just for interest I contacted Centric (who owns stop tech) to see what their min. would be. 10,000 units. I asked about cost per - have not heard back. I also reached out to Coleman racing just to see if there would be any benefit from ordering larger qty's. So - going forward once everything i...

Re: 72 2 Door 510 Restoration-25 years in the making

They have been NLA for a long time. I started a thread specific to this, and am looking into options for getting some made.

Re: Stock Brake Rotors

That's a start! Thanks for the link. Useful. I wonder if we got a situation where we could get 10-20 sets made, if they would drop the price as you said. I imagine some of the cost is in the set up. And I agree with you on being a cheaper 510 guy - but then I look around I think everything is crazy ...

Stock Brake Rotors

I was posting on Rush's project thread and the topic of stock rotors came up. I have been wondering what getting run of these made would entail? Are they something that could be fabricated on a small scale? I know nothing of the metallurgy, process etc., but I know there are people on this forum who...

Re: 72 2 Door 510 Restoration-25 years in the making

Stock rotors have become problem for sure. I have been thinking that we (as a group) should get someone to run a batch of them somehow. I don't know what that would actually look like or how realistic it is, but there are people in this community that potentially have the tools/ability. Since the z ...
