Re: L series Dogleg long box
The North American '65-'70 311 Roadster, '77-'78 280z, '77-'79 620, '80 720, '78-'80 810 all used a steel 5th gear synchronizer. 32361-20100 This is a piston ring shape with a gap and is not at all like the brass ones with the tiny gear teeth on them. https://i.imgur.com/VjHPWHg.jpg No idea if this ...

Re: 510 Wagon Short Body rear shocks
Using drop blocks does not change the shock absorber length. Re arching the leaf springs will compress a shock absorber to some degree and make bottoming out easier to do so always increase the springs rate to compensate for this. I can't see a car maker designing a car that would bottom out the sho...

Re: WTB Distributor
It's an electronic distributor in that the points are removed and it's solid state switching but it's not a higher output like the L series EI matchbox. Uses a stock 3 ohm or 1.5 ohm coil plus 1.5 ohm ballast resister. Still it's better than fiddling with points or no distributor at all. I wonder if...

Re: 1978-1981 HL510 steering box
Longer pitman arm would make the steering 'quicker' but at the cost of more effort to turn the wheel. (it may also be almost unnoticeable depending on the length difference) If it positioned the driver's side steering rod higher or lower it might affect the bump steer but only on that one side as th...

Re: 18Z parts availability and fitment
We got Z20, Z22 and Z24 engines but I know elsewhere there were Z18s. (I suspect they were L18 blocks with Z heads on them) There was even a Z18ET. All Z series engines are cross flow and designed for low emissions at low speeds so there is not a lot of power over 4-5K and the design can't be improv...

Here's me, another dinosaur. Keith has dinosaur status I think. It's my birthday today. Some things I embrace like being retired but f/b I never will.

I have a friend in Norway? Bjorn-Einar Otteson who wishes to view and read content. Can't do either. Has an old account? but can't get in. Needs to reset his password or something. I've asked for help for the last 4 and a half months but it goes nowhere. Talked to him two days ago and he's about to ...

Re: Mainshaft Nut M27 RH
Try Nissan. 32354-A7400 used through '78 and changed in '79 to 32534-A7400 depending on vehicle. The original did sometimes loosen and you loose 5th. My '79 zx 5 speed I tightened (just to be sure) and it turned maybe 3/16" but I'm sure it was right hand. This would make sense as the left turni...
