Boost 2021
I was happily doing yard work in Kimberley until a storm came up and now we have 1" of snow and counting. I'll take it as a sign that I need to head inside and update this saga. The first order of business was to get the heater box back together with the new valve and new line routing. My least...

Re: Measuring drive shaft
Yes it needs a bit since the engine and trans will move forward and aft a small amount. You also need some extra room to be able to move the shaft into the trans to get the pilot seated at the tail flange. IIRC, I’ve used about 1/2”-5/8”. If you don’t specify, driveline shops often give you lots of ...

Must feel good to be home! For the pics: 1. Get a Flickr account 2. Download Flickr app 3. Upload your chosen pics using the app (make sure it’s public so the link works) 4. Post to the realm and link your photos that you want share (copying the bbcode is the easiest). Not sure if this can be done e...

Re: Jordan's '72 2 door KA project
After ordering the timing chain guide from Rock Auto, it came from Miami in 28 hours!! That's a long way away in a short time. I was very impressed. I checked the tensioner itself when I was in there and blew air through its oil line and ensured it wasn't gummed up and all seemed well. My cold pipe ...

Re: Jordan's '72 2 door KA project
Got the last of the manifold flattened after the new circ weld. I then sanded the flange by hand with 150 since the big belt sander was set up for 80 and had some big striations. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51100943485_9cc6829764_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51100136626_6e3129aa...

Re: new member/ strut, caliper question
Pretty much everything after 1988. S13,s14 240sx and z32. Z33 brembos too but you gotta enlarge holes to 14mm. Q45 has 2 piston calipers that’d be an option. Infiniti j30 etc too. Literally countless options once you’re at 100mm.

Re: Jordan's '72 2 door KA project
Unfortunately, I don't have access to any kind of metal brake so I had to redneck the bending with an I beam, square channel, and C clamps. The I beam is nice since the relief in the web allows clearance for clamps etc when the bend is complete. Because of this, it's not quite as pretty as the compu...

Re: Jordan's '72 2 door KA project
Old fuel pump? Cool setup. Is this just to flush the rebuild or are you planning on a pump/filter once in the car? It’s a scrap lube pump from work that was used to filter a big gearbox. This is just to get it nice and clean before it goes in the car. With a rebuilt and healthy transmission and a c...

Re: Jordan's '72 2 door KA project
After years of collecting parts and dreaming up a little filtration station, I finally pieced it all together today! It's an industrial filter housing rated for 70GPM of hydraulic oil so it does a good job of pulling things out at a couple GPM, especially with a good filter at approximately 3 micron...

Re: Jordan's '72 2 door KA project
Hey Jordan, was wondering if you checked 1-3rd gear end play? Hey Lou, I did my best to check the end plays on disassembly and it all looked good. On the first install of new 3rd gear setup, I had basically zero end play and the synchro was constantly engaged. I pulled it off and touched up the ID ...

Re: Jordan's '72 2 door KA project
Thanks guys!! Will bet the shroud looks amazing when it's finished! And awesome welding going on there. The bearing damage is weird. It's not like it's continuously the whole race. I actually have been on the phone with my bearing engineer for work things but this is a more interesting topic. We did...

Re: Jordan's '72 2 door KA project
I've spent some time in recent days getting the KA trans rebuilt which was a challenging but rewarding journey (I think). I'll advise on the finished product soon hopefully. I freestyled the FSM a few times and definitely paid for it by having to do a couple things twice but definitely no show stopp...
