Re: NVH Issues
Yeah my neighbor has a drive-on hoist I can use. Didn't think it would make a difference as being IRS the diff is locked in place and not moving whether the wheels are up or down. So when you say equally you mean both right and left front shims get moved to the top and the rear shims stay in place?

Re: CV Failure
Confirmed with Troy that his CV Axle Kit may need around 7 or 8 pumps of grease annually. Already have some grease spatter on my coilovers which is normal per Troy. Spoke with Baz at Datsport, MadDat, and The Driveshaft Shop. They all said that the kits they make or did make (Baz) don't require any ...

Re: NVH Issues
Drove the car today at highway speeds and just the slight decrease in angularity difference from 1.6 degrees down to 1.4 degrees made a difference at 80mph. Thinking of removing the spacer between tranny and mount and trying to adjust just using the differential. So to tilt the differential the righ...

Re: NVH Issues
Working on trying to get every bit of vibration out of my driveline as I start to feel some during acceleration and at speeds above 75+mph. Was able to get my 510 on a lift this past week and measure what I believe are the right spots on the driveline but would love someone to verify that. As I writ...

Re: CV Failure
So the new Ermish CV kit does have built-in grease fittings which is nice. Also while there are 4 bungs (right word?) for the grease only two have the fittings while the others just have a plug. Troy mentioned that it was to avoid the inner fittings being ripped out from low ground clearance and I w...

Re: The Red Baron
Went to Rebello to drop off the oil pan and timing cover for the new engine and was able to see the forged JE pistons for the 2360cc build. Who knew that a piston could look so beautiful?! LOL.

Re: CV Failure
I have Troy's new improved kit (not sure if that means they will last longer?) but he did tell me that they should be regreased every year or so. BUT the job sounded more like simple maintenance with 10 squirts using a grease gun to each grease fitting once a year. Don't know why the Futofab ones wo...

Re: The Red Baron
Car is back from Troy's and the new CV kit and aluminum driveshaft made a big difference in a reduction in NVH. Still noticing a minor vibration at speeds above 75mph so will likely need some tinkering with the driveline angle to make it as smooth as possible. Today the modified oil pan showed up fr...

Re: NVH Issues
Much better now! When putting in the new KA24 transmission we were able to lower the rear of tranny quite a lot compared to the dogleg that was in there before. A significant decrease in vibration when accelerating. Still something very slight but that's before getting the car up on a lift again and...

Re: Mikuni Intake question.
That will work fine and is a common "shorty" Mikuni intake. Doesn't flow as well as the "longer" Datsun Comp one BUT does allow you to run full velocity stacks. Think it's for sale near me on CL for $400. IMHO overpriced and should be closer to $250.

Re: Spring Rate Feedback
Well after chatting with Troy Ermish and riding in a few 510s this weekend I'm probably going with 200lb springs all the way around for now. Seems like a nice compromise between what Julian likes (175lbs) and what many 510s run which is closer to 250lbs. Still well more than double what a stock 510 ...

Spring Rate Feedback
Recently put 250lb/in spring in the rear coilovers and after driving around am thinking they might be a little too much. Especially at 65mph+ the ride in the rear gets harsh. Have unknown front springs which will be updated soon. Leaning towards having a slightly higher rear spring rate and running ...

Re: The Red Baron
Getting work done at Troy Ermish's shop in Tracy, CA. Originally I was going to just install the tranny myself but the cost to have him do it was pretty minimal when added on to a custom aluminum driveshaft and his CV axle kit install. The old 200SX dogleg shifted great but the bearings were getting...

Re: 2.3L of fun
What did Troy say about the fitment? I'm having him put in the CV's this week. Think he now uses a newer more improved set?
