Re: All Japanese Classic '18 - August 26th - Waterfront Park

So will we :-) Pre Registration hit 224 this year! Here's a run down at the day before the show; -Classics take up 59 entries. Of those preregistered were 23 Classic Datsun's -12x 510's, 9x Z's and only 1 Roadster. I'm expecting a bunch more at the gate, but that's an amazingly low number of preregi...

Looks like a familiar shop at the end https://youtu.be/bbBKthPq3MY Ok, so this is odd, and kind of weird. Someone took my brothers build thread, put their name and watermark on it and added it to their list of projects....using only the shots where we are not in them...nice! https://www.youtube.com...

Re: Valve Train

Any head built prior to 1978 I believe had the Bronze intake & cast iron exhaust seats, so that makes sense.

Re: Valve Train

Stellite is the trade name for the alloy most commonly used on quality newer seats. Your exhaust seats are likely cast iron, I’d have these changed at the same time to stellite as well. If it’s a U67 head, I’d upgrade the intake valves from the stock 42mm to the 280z 44mm, and the exhaust 34mm to th...

Hi Keith, I’m leaving here around 8, headed out to my fathers place to pick him up and out to the track from there. It’s 1:30am, and I’ve gone about as far as I could tonight with jetting the carbs. Drop in if you like, send me a text to my cell if your coming out - then I’ll know you’re on your way...

Re: Old GT3 car

Wow! that looks great!

You aught to put in a before/after photo side by side to really show how far this car has come! Great work, can't wait to see it in person Josh.

Sue you can't make the show up here in North Vancouver on the 26th? Just checking :-)

Re: The Bronze - '69er Resto Project and continuing build-up.

Noted on the lash pads Lou. These are .210 intake and .240 exhaust, and I did compare the retainers to OEM and they are a bit deeper so I presume these are motorsport ones - but I can't confirm. I believe Motorsports had 6 different depths available, so maybe I need to track some down...if they are ...

Re: The Bronze - '69er Resto Project and continuing build-up.

Today I scraped the block best I could, wire wheeled the bolts clean, tapped out the head bolt holes, polished the block deck again with scotchbrite and then cleaned with lacquer thinner until I didn't see a spec of colour on a white rag. I still needed to modify the Z22 head gasket by punching the ...

Re: The Bronze - '69er Resto Project and continuing build-up.

Turns out my Aeromotive fuel pressure reg will dial the pressure down to 1-4 psi in .5 psi increments without an issue at all. So I reconfigured the plumbing to/from the pump and T'd off a new 0-15 gauge and a dead end line to the carbs. IMG_8738 (Medium).JPG To... This is what I came up with in the...

Re: The Bronze - '69er Resto Project and continuing build-up.

So the Bronze went through a bit of a retro grade this past week. First up - there's very little time in my life at the moment - likely my own doing, but just the same. So I have had this head, which I bought from Hainz many years ago (for a good deal then, I might add - thanks Hainz if you’re still...

Re: Need camshaft identification

I'm thinking the same. This cam & head, along with 44 Mikuni's are now on the Bronze as of a few hours ago. I took it fro a short drive tonight to a cruise in here in my little city, it was fun but the carbs are way too rich. The wideband is awesome for this, makes it so definite.. but more on that ...

I'll be there both days - working in the car corral - bring our your 510's, Z's - whatever Datsun. And you'll get to do a few laps of the track at lunch for cars in the show.
