Re: Trans slips 5th gear

I have the same issue in my Xterra in 3rd gear. My transmission guy told me years ago it has to do with the axial placement of the counter shaft holding the gears, and as Robyn noted above, it can be shimmed to correct the issue. But it does require complete disassembly as the shim would be placed o...

Re: Datsun Restomods CV showing at Byron's - Nov 25th 1-5 PM

Installation and driving impressions; The installation in Shawn's car was pretty straight forward, but did also require a change to the exhaust system. Shawn brought the car over earlier in the morning and we removed the stock half shafts. It was noted that the stock diameter exhaust put on this car...

Re: Survivor- 1971 Datsun 510 Project - Washington DC area

Just in the interest of documenting the car and it's good photos after it's sold, I posted the photos here.
So few of the olive cars were saved in their original colour.
I suspect you'll sell this soon Dave.

Re: Hello from the island

Welcome to the Realm.
Admittedly, it's getting a little harder to find a 510 today than it was 15 years ago, but they are still out there - in all ranges of condition.

Can we assume Vancouver Island is home?

Look forward to seeing you out at the local events.

Re: Datsun Restomods CV showing at Byron's - Nov 25th 1-5 PM

It was a fun day for sure, it's always great to have a bunch of like-minded people out - especially when they are all great people. Lots of discussion was had. In attendance to view Fritz's new CV shafts was Shawn (who became the 3rd or fourth customer I believe for these units), Glenn, Barry, mysel...

Re: Datsun Restomods CV showing at Byron's - Nov 25th 1-5 PM

Sounds good, I’ve heard from about 5 people myself.
It’s an open house guys, if you want to drop by on a Sunday to take a look at Fritz’s product - certainly feel free.
My wife is the coffee master, I’ll have some going and maybe a burger or two for the grill.

See you Sunday Fritz.

Hopefully I will get my headlight upgrade done and the current will not be so much through the factory switch.
Hint noted :-)

Re: Wanted: Half shaft bolts

You know, I get this kind of thing all the time at work with the large industrial turbo's my compnay manufactures, and that I work on and maintain. I send our quotes everyday and constantly get sticker shock emails back. Unfortunately it's not the bolt that's worth $27 - it's the initial engineering...

Re: Headlight fix

You win. I owe you El Gitano. My favorite stop in Mt Vernon! Thanks to Rob giving this heads up like 20 years ago - it's still a great place to plan around stopping for dinner! Oh, and for those wanting to drop in - there is another El Gitano right next door in Burlington - it's NOT the same in cas...

Eh Kieth,

I know you have a personal appointment on Friday, but are you planning on joining us this Sunday at my place for this viewing and installation on my brothers car - and a general look-see at what’s new?

Re: Joyce’s ‘71 521 Farm Truck

There are some threads on Ratsun.net on putting a 521 on a 720 frame... not quite plug and play (as you would expect). My 68 521 will get Miata front and rear suspension (but that project is a few more down the road). -m Admittedly, Project MX520 was very interesting to follow and a very cool conce...

Re: Joyce’s ‘71 521 Farm Truck

There's a series of video by "Bluehands" doing a disc brake conversion on a 520 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylr6uuMNUGA) that may provide some useful info. I looked into these kits initially, but loosing the drums brakes was only half of it. Loosing the worn steering and king pins was the othe...

Re: WTB Z20E Rods 152.5mm

Hi Mike, It was me that you sold the 6”- 152.5mm rods to - that bottom end with a Z24 crank machined down to fit in a Z22S block with the Z20E rods was assembled for sizing, and just didn’t get finished. It may this winter, but that’s a whole other story. Just to clarify, the L20B rods are the same ...

Teething?
Teething issues...

The bulk of the work is done on the motor install, now it's 'just' figuring out all the little issues now that you have car running...

... the fun but sometimes frustrating part of going back and doing things you've already completed, again :-)

Keep us posted.
