Re: Return for a ka24de swap

To be clear: this is a street car! :) Silly question maybe, why not the same pump then? Pricing is similar for a low and high pressure. Couldn’t I just run another of the same walbro high volume/high pressure pumps? Update: Doing a bit of reading here: https://www.radiumauto.com/Blog-Post.aspx Seems...

Re: Return for a ka24de swap

Thanks for that suggestion. I was thinking of just running a low pressure version of the Walbro pump I was going to run to supply the fuel rail. So this one to supply the surge from the oem tank: https://walbrofuelpumps.com/walbro-gsl395-fuel-pump.html And this one to supply the rail from the surge:...

Re: Return for a ka24de swap

Awesome. That’s actually a very simple solution in my eyes. Way better than cutting a hole in the gas tank. Ha. May I ask which fuel pump you’re using on the low pressure side? I have a decent walbro one that I was going to use to put into the injector system, but I’m gonna need to buy a low pressur...

Re: Return for a ka24de swap

Again, I apologize for asking questions that I eventually find the answer for online. I swear, been reading all the forums and doing lots of googling, ha. But that welded reservoir sent me on the right path to discovering that this is a super common issue with carbureted cars with old tanks. Sounds ...

Re: Return for a ka24de swap

I’m less concerned with the gas smell and more concerned with functionality, so I guess I can tackle that later. Ha. Everywhere I’ve looked, it looks like people just run a high-pressure in-line fuel pump for the swap. I haven’t seen discussion of any other option really. What did you do? Or suggest...

Re: Return for a ka24de swap

Resurrecting this post just to confirm all of the research I have been doing.... I am putting a 92 KA24de into a 72' 510. I do NOT think I have an evap system in the trunk and actually think my tank may be venting to atmosphere or into the fuel fill area via hose (car is in storage for winter so I c...

Re: SR/KA Mounts by Mckinney

Thank you guys! I feel like I keep running into the same few people as I do all of my research for my first swap and I really appreciate all the support, even on some of these 15 year old threads!

Re: SR/KA Mounts by Mckinney

Reawakening this thread... It seems the Mckinney mounts don't exist anymore, but I have read that you can actually just use OEM 510 mounts. So it goes: KA24de Engine Upper Bracket from KA mount 510 motor mount (dropped to the lower holes) Crossmember tower mount (flipped crossmember) Is that right?!

Re: My KA24 swap guide - more questions.

This is so incredibly helpful! Of course I’m about 15 years late to the swap but I’m starting on it now. I had a question about the mechanical speed sensor. If I’m coming from a 1972, 510 running the sensor into my 1983 280ZX five speed transmission, do I need the entire assembly from a 300 ZX? Or c...

Re: New guy here in Milwaukee...

Welcome, you joined on the right day. Car looks good. I grew up in Milwaukee and brought my first 510 from CA in the 80's. I don't recognize the building in the background of the 2nd picture, where is that? Make sure to take it to Road America in September for the VSCDA event. Thanks for the welcom...

New guy here in Milwaukee...

Hello all, Saying hello to establish myself and get started on this awesome forum. Been reading a lot and used the buyers guide and more to help guide me in buying my first Datsun 510 last month. I am already neck deep in ideas and research and loving it and can't wait to see where this take me. Unt...
