Re: questions on a 32/36 install
update: so i am an idiot. the port/hose in question is highlighted in red here: https://i.imgur.com/G8VqvAm.jpg which, is not for the brakes, but when i glanced over things while putting tools away (2 year old came outside and wanted to play with them so i had to close up shop). it looked like it we...

questions on a 32/36 install
Hi all, Im installing a weber 32/36 carb on my L16 510 wagon (coming from a 32/34) and i have some questions on a couple of things, and how things SHOULD be routed. First off, vacuum advance, should i hook it up to the carb or to the manifold? P.O. installed an HEI coil/distributor if that makes a d...

Re: WTB L20b flywheel and clutch
Generally speaking you wouldn't want a lightened flywheel for street driving. The lightened flywheel is much better when you have your foot on the gas accelerating. Most of your daily driving does not consist of these conditions. Hour car will decelerate much faster when off the gas, you will have t...

Re: WTB: seat riser
I'm looking for a seat riser. I seem to have one that's 3" tall and one that's 2" tall. If for whatever reason you only have one I would like it, otherwise I'll take a pair from someone. My zip is 90278. 2" riser goes on the inner mount and the 3" riser goes on the outer mount. ...

Re: New (kinda) 510 owner here
If your crank pulley has multiple marks - it should go with a single pointer. If there is a single mark on pulley - there is a sawtooth marker that has two bolts to the front cover. If it will idle at all - I would get the ignition timing correct before I did anything with the carb. once the engine...

Re: New (kinda) 510 owner here
and after closer review, i think i found the problem here, and this is my first time really working with carbed cars so please excuse the ignorance. After looking at exploded views of the 32/34 to find the idle screw, i have discovered that the carb is missing the auto choke. i now feel pretty stupid.

Re: New (kinda) 510 owner here

Re: New (kinda) 510 owner here
The 10 before TDC is without the vacuum advance right?
And it turns out it does run as is. I just need to keep it under throttle until it warms up to operating temp, then it starts up just fine without it.

Re: New (kinda) 510 owner here
what is the secondary adjustment? what i was told to do was to unbolt the distributor, then lift it and turn it ever so slightly in the direction i need then lower it again and fully seat it, screw the adjustment bolt back in and try it again to see if you can even out the idle. which is what i did,...

New (kinda) 510 owner here
A few years back i bought a 510 wagon with the hopes of turning it into my DD. i bought a lot of parts at the time to give it some life, but i kept searching for the right seats that i wanted to put in it (mk2 gti Recaros) and never really went any further with the car, because its no good having a ...
