Re: Gold digger
I don't have it yet. I will post up how it fits into the console when I get it. It also is mounted on left side of the console in the Evo X, as opposed to the right side on the Evo 8/9 as I mentioned. This may affect mounting and fit opportunities.

Re: Gold digger
I only did my test fit in a car with no interior or transmission installed, so I don't have a good feeling on it yet either. It seemed quite high to the tunnel, so I was concerned how the shift lever would fit/operate if it came through the boot higher up the lever. I did buy an Evo X brake lever fr...

Nice! Thanks for the extra info.
I am very disappointed you didn't make Troy wear a scarf for authenticity.

Re: Gold digger
Also ordered T3s micro big brake kit for the rear with e-brake function. Gonna use a Evo 8 handbrake that matches my center console. Just have to figure out how to connect the cable from the hand brake to the stock 510 e-brake mount under the car. Have you done any fit trials or have photos of the ...

Re: Newbie intro. Purchased historic 510 race car.
Welcome!
I see mentioned being in CA. Also interested in how you found/acquired the car. I have been watching 510 race car sale ads regularly and never saw this one posted anywhere.
Planning for Vintage racing?

I agree those halfshafts appear to be the Z versions that had the stub shaft as one with the inner U joint coupling.
Were those ever used with R160 diffs? I vaguely remember seeing some from a 610 before.

From page 5 of the thread. what fenders flares were those for originally? All VW Golf front fender flares. I placed these like described below. Rears are front fenders flipped sides. MK2 on front left (Front left stock) MK2 on front right (Front right stock) Mk1 on rear left (Front right stock) MK1 ...

Re: CLSD Identification
Fun project!
How do you measure the breakaway torque? Basically lock one side from turning by holding the stub shaft, then apply torque to the other side until you get movement? I see the one photo of the ratchet adapter on the stub shaft. Any other pictures of the setup to do this?
Thanks.

Re: 14" wheels and tires for a a 4 door
Stock fenders, zero offset and 7 or more inches wide you are going to have a real tough time fitting in there. Most that run 7 or greater width on stock fenders have to go at least +20 offset. In the front, the 280ZX brakes do bring the wheels in closer so strut clearance is a concern as mentioned i...

Re: FS5W71B Swap Issues
You have to match the throw out bearing and collar height to the clutch you are using. For example, if using the stock flywheel and L16 clutch pressure plate, you should be using the throw out bearing collar and sleeve from your stock 4 speed. I don't believe the clutch fork is different, and the sl...

Re: How much to spend?
I would want to see an itemized detailed list of what for how much. I think you could get a great paint job for less than $10k if not rusty, and I can't imagine any 510 interior costing more than $5k at an extreme. So to me even $15k would be a huge amount. Have to see the labor breakdown too. I bou...
