Re: red dime on BAT- showing L series is still Loved!

Heretic. Your build was one of my favorite to follow. Your vision for your 510 shared similarities with the vision I have for mine and I placed great value in seeing how your build progressed. Take comfort in knowing your 510, regardless of the selling price on BAT, was a great one. Perhaps another ...

Re: What did you do on your 510 today?

So, the "while I'm at it" bug has bitten. My fresh air vents are in okay condition. Some green showing through where chrome used to be. The ducting itself needs to be cleaned and resealed, so I'm looking into that. But, along the way I needed to rent a vehicle, which turned out to be a 2018 toyota c...

Re: What did you do on your 510 today?

Finished the rebuild of the heater unit. Replaced what O-rings I could in the valve....all but one I think. Had the heater core flushed and re-soldered...tanks were showing some corrosion. The metal bits were sandblasted. I liked how the looked without paint so I kept them as-is and sprayed some cle...

Re: Installing Map Light

Just as a side note, before the advent of the internet, many guys used another heater switch and made their own light socket for this. The switches look the same and do fit. Byron I've been looking into this approach for utilizing the map light portion of the heater control panel. I saw a post on r...

Re: Flat Plane Crankshaft

Yes they did. All of their 4 cylinder engines are flat plane. Here is my flat plane or 180 L20B and Z22 crankshafts. Palm----->Forehead Sometimes, an idea seems so interesting, I go searching for information without doing research. In this instance, the realm was my go-to for info. Cool that ...

Flat Plane Crankshaft

I never gave it much thought before, but came across this discussion on BAT: https://bringatrailer.com/2019/03/25/sounds-good-flat-plane-crank-2006-chevrolet-corvette-z06/ That said, it seems like old tech that never really caught on to become mainstream. I like the idea that these style of cranks -...

Re: WTB: U67

Found one. Well, not a U67, but an open chamber A87. Will take some machining to get the intake ports to match, but seems possible. Thanks everyone for offers and support.

Sorry Keith. Didn't mean to hijack your thread and go off-topic. Double wahmmy. I would be interested to see how your rewire works out.

I've read that legit libres have the rib in the middle for additional structural support, like these. Cool wheels....downside is 13". An original-focused, period-correct restoration should look into these.

Re: Turn signal flasher relay

I recently installed a host of LED marker lights on my 510. It is the least I can do while I wait to have my u67 (or whatever) rebuilt. I ordered from superbrightleds.com. They came as advertised and fit pretty much everywhere without issue. The front turn signals/markers were a bit of a tight fit, ...

WTB: U67

I'm looking for a decent U67 to have rebuilt. I've struck out twice now...one u67 had been over ported (coolant jacket damaged) while the other was shaved unevenly and had an exhaust valve retainer enlarged and glued in (or something stupid like that). Neither is repairable at this point. Need to st...

Re: Datsun yard sale

Looking for a good (clean, unmolested) U67 head to rebuild. I've struck out twice now...hoping third time is a charm. If one is found here, please consider shipping it to Colorado. Let me know $ to see if it is reasonable to do so.

Thanks.

Re: Tail Light Protection

Hey James. I don't think your thoughts are off base at all...same concept, different method. My initial thought would be to use an aluminum plate, roughly the same size as the taillight housing, that would be mounted using existing - but extended - hardware and aluminum rods that slide over the hard...

How long do you think it will take to drive here...I will have the coffee on..... That would be a great road trip! Colorado to Utah, Utah through Nevada, through Lake Tahoe and North California, Over to the coast, up the Pacific Coast all the way to the boarder....that would be fantastic. Guessing ...
