WTT Two NA Miatas for nice, running L20B + 5speed
Hey guys, This is kind of a ridiculous post, but just because of how my job has been working out over the last few years and my inability to snag a nice L20b setup for weird reasons, I've decided to put two of my Miatas up for trade. THE OFFER: The first is my daily driver, a '91LE manual in BRG wit...

RE: TO FLARE OR NOT TO FLARE
my vote goes for "not flare". I understand that sometimes it is a necessity, but it still makes me frown. Especially big box flares on street cars.

Wow! Thanks for the response, although I must say that it isn't my engine bay, haha, i just pulled it off these forums for an example. I wish it was mine :) But yeah, the little drainage holes wouldn't provide enough airflow for sure - so I like your idea of running a flattened channel down the pass...

oh no, i only meant that you have the advantage of having the intake and exaust manifold on the same side of the engine. I believe you that it works great ffor the L, and I bet it would work great for the SR20 as well - but I was only commenting on the length of the tubing, not how efficient the set...

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Alternative intercooler placement
Moving the engine back or putting in your subaru IC? Well, both - although to put in the IC where I was suggesting would only mean cutting an area about 6 inches high by perhaps 20 long, as opposed to moving the entire firewall back a few inches. It's work you could do without even pulling the engi...

Yeah, i don't think it's worth the work.icehouse wrote:If you are going to do a whole bunch of cutting why not move the engine back a couple extra inchs? Then you have extra room for a big air and water radiator.

RE: Re: RE: Alternative intercooler placement
Well, I should have explained that this set up obviously wouldn't be used on a daily driver, so the fresh air for the heater and the lack of wipers is sort of a nonfactor (apparently running without wipers is the cool thing to do these days). The only advantage I could see here is the shortness of t...

Re: RE: Alternative intercooler placement
it could be a preheater for the heater! except now the fresh air wouldn't be so fresh... and you'd could control the flow with easy to use and reach controls... and have a puller fan on the back side.... PS: this is where the air for you heater come from, and the fresh air vents. so yes, there is a...

Alternative intercooler placement
Hey all, I've been thinking a lot about intercooler placement the last few days, going through the forums and looking at the different routes people have taken, from TMIC to FMIC - but I was thinking tonight about another place to put it. Right behind the upper firewall, there is a hollow area that ...

Yeah, right now the plan is to stitch weld the entire thing while it is on the rotissire - but I really need to get in there and start doing it just to see how much time it will take and how difficult it will be. The rotisseire will make it substantially easier. I've been reading these forums non-st...

I've spent about 4 hours tonight slowly going over each one of your posts and studying each picture until I understood exactly what I was looking at in each one. Your work is just an absolute inspiration for me. I'm currently attempting basically the same conversion, and it is completely alarming ho...
