Re: NVH Issues

I might be missing it but is there a topic or link to a more in-depth discussion around driveshaft angularity? Don't know if right now is the best time to mess with it but definitely will want to address it when I put in the KA24 transmission. Also what is everyone using to measure the u-joints ang...

Re: 280zx Inserts

Hi there Amaro, Which spacer are you referring to? I defiantly shorten the strut tubes to match the inserts, as noted on the page linked above. I usually machine off the stock strut hats at the same time, then cut the new internal threads. Let me know if I can help you out further on your set up. I...

Re: 280zx Inserts

David, I go into great detail about using these inserts in my Bronze build thread, starting here; http://the510realm.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=530&start=510 I used the rear gen1 MR2 inserts, TOBZ3099, I believe the front inserts casings are 11mm difference in length, but I don't remember if ...

Re: l20b eating bearings?

Well, the machinist called me to let me know there are two cracks on the center head bolts to the water jackets, so I'm not sure if it will be cost effective to repair.
Can an L series block be run for a while with a crack? Or will it cause serious issues?

Re: l20b eating bearings?

Thanks for the suggestions guys, the Block is off being hot tanked right now, ill be sure to check the oil galley plugs and relief valves on the oil filter and in the pump. The engine was overcammed with a 270/280 degree cam or some such, so the low dynamic compression of the engine seemed to apprec...

Re: l20b eating bearings?

Thanks for the ideas you guys, this time an oil pressure gauge will be fitted. Timing was pretty advanced, around 17 degrees on a matchbox dizzy, 91 octane. No oil coolers or anything here. The pickup is in good shape and was sealed to the block with a gasket, the screen was clean, its a clean engin...

l20b eating bearings?

A friend of mine has a 510 with an L20b that seems to keep eating bearings, it started with a rod knock, so the engine was disassembled, and the crankshaft was freshly ground by a machinist to .010 on the mains and rod bearings, new oversize clevite bearings were fitted, all main and rod bearings we...

Re: Subaru STi R180 Option from FutoFab

CLSD or Torsen are the stub axles. Sorry, must have been in a fog when I typed that. Yes, we sell only one stub axle, they are both the same length and they fit both CLSD or Torsen diffs. I think your confusion may be that the R160 VLSD requires a longer spline on one stub axle, not the case for th...

FS: FS5C71A 3pc 5 speed trans w L series bellhousing

Hey there guys I just aquired another datsun project so now I need to sell off some of my hoard of parts to fund the new Roadster project. It's a three piece Roadster 5 speed transmission with an L series bellhousing from an early 240z Gear ratios: 2.957 1.858 1.311 1 0.864 Bellhousing fits L series...

Re: KA24de exhaust question

my engine didnt have the stock exhaust manifold when i got it so I bought the cheapest 4-2-1 design on ebay, one of the tubes hits the box so i cut it out, flipped it around, and welded it back in so it bends away from the box. its actually way easier to get this header in and out now than an L seri...
